Virtual Rant: How in the age of um-employment, employers are losing basic human values.

First rant of the new blog, excited amongst all the rage. Anyways a bit of background before the rant, im currently unemployed, (just graduated so its not that big a shocker) and going through the vicious cycle that all recently graduated people go through.

See new job post ---> think about applying ---> Write a cover letter describing yourself ---> Send the CV/resume.

still waiting for a reply.

It gets to a point when you start to doubt if the proverbial phone with ever ring. Mind you, i have a previous job experience, I sent the email in june 2012, checked my email constantly for 2 weeks, gave up and then almost lost the job opportunity when i discovered the employer had contacted in september 2012 and given me a 3 day response time. Call it my luck but i still landed the job because apparently no one applied for it (Being the only applicant is so awesome). Fast forward a year to november 2013, i was woke up from a peaceful sleep and a beautiful dream ( I won masterchef 2020 and was being handed my cook book deal by Gordon Ramsey <3 ) when i was woken up by my brother yelling "you have a phone call, you have a phone call". On the other end was a guy who started off by saying "So we recieved your email and your resume and we are very impressed. We would like you to work for us". My response simply was "When did i send you the resume". Im pleased he at least sounded apologetic when he replied "2 months ago. Anyways, we would like you to send us a sample paper on the following topics, as soon as possible. limited seats, we want you at our company, yada yada yada". Being the overachiever that i am, i hung up, dashed to my computer to create a content article worthy of a job offer and sent it. Flash forward 2 weeks and i'm still waiting for a response.

Call me old fashioned but if i send out a job request and people actually deem it respectable enough to apply there skills and time, the LEAST i could do is check whether the people are to the standard of the company and the task at hand and if they are not, tell them as soon as possible so they wont keep a hope to there hearts that they still have a chance. Let them off the hook so they can start looking for another area and better establish there time. As an employer is believe its courtsy. But looks like in fast lane era, we are losing this courtsy as well.

Mental note to self: If i ever become the restauranter that i want to be (Hope your listening God, Ameen), personally check applicants and issue acceptance/rejection within a week.

In the end, i wanna wish all those who read the entire rant, a very very happy week. Thank you for listening to me. here is something for you :3
